Admissions Procedure
Carmel School Association - Elsa High School welcomes applications for admission from all students regardless of nationality, religion or gender. Priority is given to children whose parents are members of the Jewish community. Attendance at the school does not certify the Jewish status of any child attending the School. We welcome applications for our thriving International Stream consisting of students from all backgrounds.
In order to provide the best education for all students and to meet their needs expeditiously, it is most important that parents inform the school of any previous testing, special needs, or medical issues a child may have. All information will be kept in the strictest confidence.
Applications are considered throughout the year and visitors are welcomed to the campus by appointment only.
The application process is competitive and decisions by the Principal are based on both academic and non-academic factors. There is no application deadline but students are encouraged to submit their applications by spring prior to the autumn opening of school. Acceptances are made with the provision that students complete their current year in good standing.
School Visit
Upon receiving the above required documents, the parents will be contacted for a school visit and an interview with the Principal. A visit to the school is recommended.
Placement Test
The entrance requirements include a placement test on English and Maths skills. It is the aim of the school to provide places for all members of the Jewish community. We do not therefore reject on the basis of academic ability: previous school records and the outcome of the placement test are also important in determining the grade and providing the right support for each successful applicant.
Acceptance
Upon confirmation of acceptance and receipt of the deposit and enrollment form, students will be sent more specific information pertaining to entrance.
Please note that a deposit of one month's tuition fee will become payable upon acceptance of the applicant to confirm the place offered. A place is not guaranteed until the deposit and enrollment form are received.
Class Placement
The age cut-off date for entrance into a school year is October 31st. It is the school policy to assign students to classes so that they will be with students of the same age group.
